Perfecting the Adventure!
Specialty Courses allow each diver the opportunity to fine tune their skills based on their favorite type of diving. Each class is conducted on a semi private basis. You want to learn, we will teach. The class fee includes the needed classroom and pool sessions, the appropriate PADI Specialty Manual and a specific piece of gear needed for that type of diving.
Deep Diver $95
Diving does not stop at 60 feet, but dive technique changes once you enter the realm of Deep Diving. Learn the effects deep diving has on air consumption, light, buoyancy control, marine life and more. Additionally, you will discuss with your instructor Deep scuba diving equipment considerations. You will gain experience in planning, organizing and making at least four deep dives under the supervision of your PADI Instructor.
Enriched Air Diver $125
Familiarize yourself with the procedures, safety protocols, hazards, risks, benefits and theory of no decompression diving with oxygen enriched air containing 22 percent to 40 percent oxygen. During the practical application of the course, you will practice and demonstrate mastery in enriched air handling, procedures and oxygen analysis. Bring you dive computer to learn how to set the correct mixture of Enriched Air.
Night Diver $140
The dive day doesn’t have to end at sundown. Discover the proper technique for extending your dive time into the night. Learn about light management, navigation techniques, animal behavior and more. Introduce yourself to the whole new cast of critters that comes out after the sun goes down. See your favorite dive sites from a whole new perspective at night. An Intova Wide Angle Light is included with the course.
Digital Underwater Photographer $115
Discover how to capture underwater memories that will last forever. Learn about digital camera selection, picture composition, the different types and proper care of underwater photographic systems, and more. We also discuss the various digital file formats and digital editing to bring back the color in your images.
Boat diver $115
The PADI Boat Diver Specialty course can benefit almost every diver because you will learn the different dive procedures for diving from any class of boat. You will learn the tips, tricks and ways to Dive from boats ranging from small inflatables to giant live-aboards and how they differ from place to place. A Medium Dry Bag is included with the course.
Drift Diver $115
The PADI Drift Diver Specialty course introduces you to the coolest magic carpet ride you’ll ever experience. Diving in a current can be an exhilarating experience – and the boat follows you and your buddy! Learn proper techniques of water entry and egress, proper surface float and signaling device use, etc. Remember, most dive boats in Fort Lauderdale conduct drift dives, especially during lobster season. A 4 ft Safety Sausage is included with the course.
Equipment Specialist $95
Curious how scuba tanks are made? Ever wondered what the inside of your regulator looks like? Don’t miss a dive due to a scuba gear issue. Whether it’s a blown o-ring, regulator problem, wetsuit tear or a broken fin strap, you can learn how to properly adjust and maintain your valuable dive equipment without voiding manufacturer warranties. See different styles of equipment and learn emergency repair techniques that can save a dive trip. A Scuba Multi Tool is included with the course.
Multilevel/Computer Diver $95 or Free with the Purchase of a Dive Computer
Maximize your dive time so you can explore more! In this course, you learn how to plan dives that extend your bottom time by crediting you for slower nitrogen absorption when you ascend to a shallower depth. That’s the way you really dive, after all. Bring your computer.
Peak Performance Buoyancy $75
Buoyancy is the most important skill you will develop as a diver. Learn advanced buoyancy skills that will help improve your diving efficiency while protecting the aquatic environment. Give your dive skills a polish you may not have thought possible and trim your scuba gear so you’re perfectly balanced in the water.
Project Aware Fish ID $115
You’ll find you enjoy your dives even more when you recognize the creatures that you see. The fun part about this course is you can use the skills you learn on every scuba diving vacation because once you learn the main fish families and characteristics it will help you decipher the species you see all over the world. You will also discuss REEF fish survey techniques and strategies. This is a great companion course to the Underwater Naturalist course. A Fish ID Pocket Book and Mini slate are included with the course.
Search and Recovery Diver $140
In this course you will learn search and recovery dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and how to deal with potential problems. You will learn how to locate large and small objects using search patterns, and how to lift them to the surface. This course will also improve your navigation and buoyancy skills. A 50 lb Lift Bag is inlcuded with course.
Underwater Naturalist $95
Do you know which types of fish, corals and plants sting, where to find a Brittle Starfish, or the favorite food of the Queen Angelfish? Look closer to see more on your next dive. Look for symbioses, predator/prey and other relationships between aquatic plant and animal life. Learn not just what fish and animals are, but how they interact with each other and the environment. The Underwater Naturalist course reveals these secrets and more, making you more aware of the environment around you. The Naturalist course is a must for the serious underwater photographer or videographer.
Underwater Navigator $140
Learn advanced compass and natural navigation techniques that will improve your efficiency as a diver. These techniques will give you additional confidence and help assure that you will be able to find your way back to the boat at the end of the every dive. A compass slate is inlcuded with the course.
Wreck Diver $140
Prepare for the exciting –and specialized- world of wreck diving. Whether sunk on purpose as an artificial reef or the result of mishap, wrecks open fascinating windows to the past. During this course you will learn the techniques for diving and exploring shipwrecks, how to avoid common hazards, to evaluate wrecks for safety, and more. Learn the proper technique for penetration diving so you can safely explore the inside of the ocean’s sunken ships. A Reel is inlcuded with the course.
Project Aware Coral Reef Conservation
The AWARE Coral Reef Conservation Specialty course is designed to inform you about the world’s coral reefs. As a scuba diver, the health of aquatic ecosystems is often what makes a good dive. Become aware of the fragileness of coral reefs and how you can help preserve them.
The AWARE – Coral Reef Conservation Specialty course teaches you about the vital role of coral reefs in the marine environment. The course also familiarizes you with the current state of the world’s coral reefs and how you can help. You will learn about the Project AWARE Foundation, how coral reefs function, why they are so important, why many reefs are in serious trouble, and what you can do to prevent further decline.
